Programs and Services
PSA presents on average 75 stroke educational lectures and participates in about 30
health fairs annually. Through lectures, workshops, events, discussion groups, articles
and media messages, PSA educates the public about stroke, stroke prevention, and
stroke warning signs, emphasizing the critical need to take symptoms seriously and to
seek immediate emergency treatment.
PSA reaches 23,000 people annually with our message about stroke. Stroke educational
materials are currently available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, and
Japanese. We also offer bilingual (Spanish/English) lectures in the communities we
serve.

Each support group has a different characteristic. Some of them serve women or men who have had a stroke; some are
educational while others are open discussions for stroke survivors and caregivers. The groups meet at different days, times
and locations throughout San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. Click here to see a list of our current groups.
PSA-trained volunteers visit newly admitted stroke patients at local hospitals and provide a warm smile and an empathetic ear.
They provide testimony to the possibilities of overcoming the emotional and physical difficulties.
